Town Farm- Your Guide to Urban Farming: Television Series
The idea of growing and buying produce from local ”urban
farms” is taking hold in many communities across Canada. Reducing carbon emissions from transporting
produce and supporting local economies are top of mind issues today. Town Farm is a web series designed to encourage and instruct a general audience on creating a market garden in their back yard. In this hosted series, audiences will have a firsthand look at all aspects of creating and developing a vegetable garden that could produce enough food for their family needs and a small income. The host will guide viewers during the creation of a raised garden on a suburban property in Red Deer, Alberta, from concept to working “farm”.
The programs will be webcasted on 24 / 7 Red Deer. To complement the series, online resources (guides, instructions, and links) will also be available to the audience on the website. Periodically the producers will conduct workshops in communities to provide in person instruction and help to people interested in starting a town farm.on
